Water

Many Beatles tribute bands also perform or record as an 'alter ego' band, writing and playing their own original material. The Backbeat Beatles are one such band. Chris O'Neill (who portrayed George in the movie Backbeat), Paul McDonough, Gary Harmon and Dave O'Reilly are also known as 'Water', and their debut album is called 'Rainmaker'.

The CD contains 12 original songs; the style of which varies from ballad to rock. Standout tracks include McDonough's 'Take Me To The Doctor' and O'Neill's 'Sunday Afternoon' - each song has the distinctive influence of Lennon and McCartney yet with a modern edge. Infact - Paul McDonough told TWIL that he had to correct a Beatles fan who thought he was hearing unheard solo-Beatle out-takes!!

Most Beatle-tribute-come-original bands are influenced by the Beatles, and Water have used this influence, along with the similarities in their vocal styles to produce an outstanding collection of songs. They are hoping to tour as Water this year, giving music fans the opportunity to hear this fab album live!!

Water have already received rave reviews; online Beatles newspaper 'The Beatles Pages' said: "Water's 'Rainmaker' CD is chock full of melodic, harmonious pop-rock with a fresh, potent delivery."
