Convention Sunday was an important day for the TWIL team. We had a stall in the Adelphi from which we were to sell merchandise for the bands who attended Beatleweek, and had been planning for several weeks. We arrived in the Sefton Suite early, and found our table. Throughout the morning various band members dropped by bringing with them CD's, video's, T-Shirts and pictures for us to sell for them. By midday our little stall was overflowing with merchandise from Brazil, America, Canada, Sweden and the UK too! You could have a 'Fab Faux Not War' T-Shirt, an 'Overtures Live' CD, a 'Lenny Pane in Japan Video', A 'Tunel Do Tempo' CD or a picture of John Lennon drawn by Hal Bruce! There were also back issues of The Word Is Love, TWIL keyrings and a raffle with the opportunity to win a copy of TWIL 5 signed by almost every band at convention and some of the guests too!
We were kept busy all day with Beatle fans looking for a souvenir of their favourite Beatleweek bands. The bands dropped in to say hello too, some helping us to display their merchandise (Will Lee, being taller than Jo and I put together, being especially helpful!) and our friend Scott from Texas, who was selling T-Shirts on behalf of A Hard Night's Day helping us out too. Jim 'Ringo' Martin from British Export made sure we had everything we needed (and kept us entertained), Los Beat 3 gratefully accepted our offer of looking after their instruments while they went to check out the rest of the festival, and The Absurds signed lots of their merchandise for fans.
The time (12 hours!) flew by quickly as we were entertained by bands playing in the Suite all afternoon. We heard Johnny Silver, Beat The Meetles, The Beatalls (UK), The Beatals (Australia), Buttles, Fab 4 Replay Band, Morsa, Flying Postmen, Los Beat 3, Tunel Do Tempo and Ox; all were great bands and played varied and interesting sets. The room was packed with fans watching the bands, and the stall benefited from the extra traffic!
Thank you to everyone who stopped by the stall to say hello, help out or buy something, Cavern City Tours for donating the stall, the winners of our raffle and all the bands for bringing their merchandise and for providing the best entertainment in the world all weekend!!
