The Overtures @ The Ramada Jarvis Hotel, East Grinstead - New Years Eve 2001

The Overtures played in the Ramada Jarvis hotel in East Grinstead on New Years Eve and luckily 7 or 8 TWILer's were there to fly the flag. The hotel made quite an effort to get us in the mood for the 60's; the entrance into the hall had a strobe lighting effect and played the theme to Doctor Who, the tables were decorated with vinyl LP's and the waiters were dressed up.

The guys played 2 fantastic sets which included 'Lets Spend the Night Together', 'Spirit in the Sky', 'Gimme Some Lovin' and 'I'm A Believer' (a personal favourite). Behind them a screen replayed scenes of some of our favourite people and events from the 60's. After the bells tolled and much hugging amongst us girls, the guys played another set, which included a great version of 'You'll Never Walk Alone', and finished with a stonking version of 'Great Balls of Fire'. All in all it was a great night. The only downside?? Not enough people got into the spirit of things and dressed up.
