The Overtures - 'Showcase' on UK TV
Just recently, these three talented musicians appeared on UK TV, singing their own compositions, written by their own talented bass player - Dennis Pugsley. The programme was called Showcase, and went on air at 2am in the morning. Thanks to a good friend of mine, I got to see the programme featuring The Overtures and was left speechless. Here is my review of the show, for those that sadly missed it, because it was on Digital.
This was The Overtures chance to show their viewers just what they have been missing for the last nine years! The guys got to perform their first TV showcase of their own music. The three songs that were chosen were called: 'In Spite Of All The Danger', 'Hole In The Ground' and 'When Your Luck Runs Out'. Steve was looking rather cool on those drums and Dennis sang the songs he had brilliantly written with Tony harmonising. The only down fall for the band was, the fact that they had to sadly mime to their own music. This did not impress the guys, as Dennis Pugsley explained "We're a live band and Steve found it hard to mime drumming, but it was a chance to be heard!"
They performed as true stars would. In fact, The 'Tures, looked like they had been performing in front of the TV cameras for years! Such a relaxed an enjoyable performance of 15 minutes worth! We can only hope, that those 15 min, will let music lovers know, that there are still some talented bands out there worth watching and supporting! I really enjoyed watching them, it felt great to see them on TV and lets face it they deserve it and more! Tony Skeggs was interviewing the other guests on the show - and Tony I think you're worth more than making the tea!!
You can tell the guys enjoyed every minute of it and it's wonderful to know that TV is now starting to realise that there are gifted musicians in the world that need a chance to be heard and seen on TV. To us, The Overtures are stars and one day, somebody out there will realise what we have known for the last nine years - that these guys have got what it takes to make it to the top -writing and recording their own music.
