And more noteworthy, than newsworthy; I was lucky enough to attend three of Brian Wilson's recent shows in the UK, where he presented a new suite of songs called That Lucky Old Sun. Rumours that Mr McCartney would appear at one of the concerts were unfounded, but we were treated to a version of She's Leaving Home perfomed by the former Beach Boy and his amazing band as a final encore. Great stuff!

31 August 2007 "Tuned to a natural E"

Beatle Week 2007 was another roaring success. Over 70 bands performed 469 sets over the course of 6 days. Thank you to all the bands for making Beatle Week what it is, and to Cavern City Tours for yet another amazing event. How will they top 2007?

Photos and set lists from BW07 are available in the Beatle Week pages - more to be added as when I received them. If you would like us to include your photos, please email them to ninatwil@gmail.com and we will be honoured to add them to our site!

7 August 2007 "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party"

After last week's announcement that the Mathew Street Festival has been cancelled due to safety concerns, icLiverpool today says that Liverpool City Council are in talks to try and save the festival. We'll update you when there's more news...

If you're concerned about the effects the cancellation of the Mathew Street Festival will have on Beatle Week, fear not. The festival is entirely separate to Beatle Week. It is a free festival put on by Liverpool City Council for the people of Liverpool, but features bands who are also appearing at Beatle Week. All other Beatle Week events are unaffected and going ahead as scheduled.

Following a server crash, the TWIL Forum archive was lost and so we have had to start again from scratch. If you registered previously, please come on by and register again. Updates are ongoing to restore all the topics in the forum.

So sorry for the lack of updates recently, but be reassured that come next week I'll be updating and adding more info to the site. And I'll tell you one thing, if you're coming to Liddypool this year, Mathew Street Festival or no Mathew Street Festival we're gonna have a good, good time!!

1 July 2007 "Let's all get up and dance to a song"

"EMI Marketing / Universal Music TV are proud to release a 3 disc anniversary edition cd to celebrate The Cavern’s 50th year this year. Containing 50 tracks from artists who have all appeared at the club over the years, the tracklist reads like a Who’s Who of British popular music over the decades, and amply highlights the pivotal importance and influence the club has extended over the years since it opened on 16th January 1957.

The Cavern – The Most Famous Club In The World features The Beatles and The Rolling Stones together for the first time ever on a commercial album, with Arctic Monkeys bringing the tracklist up to date with a previously unreleased live version of The View From The Afternoon.

The album is released on 20th August, ahead of the internationally acclaimed Mathew Street Festival, which runs over the Bank Holiday weekend every year and is typically visited by in excess of three hundred thousand people."

You can read the full press release and tracklisting here.

26 June 2007 "Come Together"

News from our friends at Sweadbeat.com - they have just announced the line-up for the biggest Beatles Festival in Northern Europe in March 2008. Check out our Conventions page for details.

I have been adding past Liverpool Beatle Week band biographies to the site. Click on 'Beatle Week' and then 'bands' to access them. Will be adding this years after the festival in August (if I finish writing them in time!). I have updated the list of bands playing at the years festival too. Tickets are still available for this unmissable event. If you haven't got yours yet, get on over to Cavern City Tours to book now...

And if you happen to be in the Liverpool vicinity next week, be sure to join the celebrations marking the 50th Anniversary of the day that John met Paul on 6th July. Jon Keats and Bob Bartey will be performing a gig at the Cavern along with the original Quarrymen. Details available from the Cavern Club on + 44 (0)151 236 1965.

18 June 2007 "Birthday greetings, bottle of wine"

Happy birthday to Sir Paul. Hoping his 66th year is a better one...

The updates are coming in slowly... my friend Bernard has been in contact to tell me that the 20th Mons Beatles Day is taking place from 21-22 September this year, in Belgium. It will feature Hal Bruce & Scott Ferguson (Canada), Jazz Me Do (Belgium), The Beatlemaniacs (England), The Prellies (England), Lawrence Macca and The GetBack Band (Scotland) and The AfterBeat (France). Bookings and further information at www.beatlesday.be

Please email me if you have any news you wish me to post about your band or Beatle related event.

There have been many advances in webland since last September, so I'm trying to work out what changes need to be made to TWIL in order to keep up... Should we have a blog? A MySpace? How could thewordislove.com be better? Please email me if you have an opinion, and especially if you would be willing to be a TWIL volunteer and help keep everything updated!!

13 June 2007 "Life is what happens"

Yes, I'm back. After a rather long hiatus; a result of various personal issues, I am back and firmly in control of TWIL once more. I have lots of emails to deal with, and tonnes of updates for the site; not least to add all the info for this years Liverpool Beatle Week, so do bear with me as I get everything up and running again. Thank you for your continued support.
