Biography: (from the Beatleweek 2006 Programme)

We're very excited to have New York City's Jan Owen return (for his third consecutive year) to Beatle Wekk 2006! Since last August, Jan has been very busy performing his startling one-man renditions of the entire Abbey Road Medley, A Day In The Life, Happiness Is A Warm Gun, and other show-stoppers at Latin American Beatles Week, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, November '05 (in their own Cavern Club). Back in the States Jan taped a live performance at Strawberry Fields (in NYC's Central Park), in honour of John Lennon for 'Jornal de Record', the leading TV news programme in Brazil, which was broadcast worldwide, Dec 8th across America, Africa and Europe.

On October 9th, Jan was a guest performer in a concert to honour John's 65th birthday, at CBGBs in NYC. On the 30th, after performing for Sid Bernstein (the man who brought the Beatles to Shea Stadium and Carnegie Hall) at a club in Greenwich Village, Jan went to another venue to support his friends in the amazing Pete Best Band. This year, Jan has performed with Jane Weidlin (of the Go-Go's), Ian Mitchell (B C Rollers) and even appeared as an extra on "The Sopranos".

After BW '06 Jan will be flying to Scotland, to play the Edinburgh Festival in September. (There are also negotiations in the works to appear at the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg, Germany, in late September). Jan has been asked to return to Buenos Aires, to play the Semana de Beatles 2006! Jan has now recorded his second solo album 'Back to the Gazebo', out on Subway records (subwayrecords.com).

Come to Jan's shows during Beatle Week 2006, and see for yourself why Ringo Starr thought enough of Jan's talent to remark, "Hey this guy's good! We'll have to get him up to sing with us sometime!"

News
4 October 2004

News from Jan on an exciting weekend of John Lennon commemorations: "I just performed at the Legacy Productions' "When I'm 64: Celebrating 64 Years of the Lennon Legend" art exhibit (of Lennon litho & drawings) show in Montclair, NJ, this past Saturday. Legacy is out of Santa Rosa, CA, and they're presently touring John's art across the states. Well, one of the guys who was there works directly with Yoko, for Bag One Productions, and he (and all the Legacy people) went nuts for me! As a result, they've invited me to play for Bag One Productions (Yoko's own company)/Legacy Productions' "When I'm 64..." show they're going to do in Soho (in the Village, NYC), right on John's Birthday - Saturday, Oct 9th!!! That's a real honor! The show is from 11am to 7pm, on Wooster Street. Although we don't have my exact performance times pinned down yet, I'll probably be playing somewhere between 2pm and 7pm. So that gig will be on Saturday, Oct 9th.

On the very next day, Sunday, Oct 10th, I am again playing down in NYC, again in honor of John's birthday! I'll be the featured performer for Daytrippin' Magazine's special celebration of John Lennon's birthday!! It'll take place at the Slipper Room, down in the Village, NYC. The party goes from 3pm - 7pm, and I will be playing 2 sets: 3pm and 4:30pm." For detailed information and to order tickets online, visit www.daytrippin.com/fan_club_news.htm
