Bob Bartey is certainly no stranger to Beatle Week - he first appeared at our MerseyBeatle Convention with the band Walrus way back in 1988, and he has played at every convention with various different bands since. So this year marks his 20th consecutive Beatle Week appearance - a pretty amazing record! This year, Bob is teaming up once again with his old Banned on the Run mate, guitarist (and mandolinist!?) extraordinaire Marcus Lazarus.
Bob is probably the greatest Paul McCartney sound-alike in the world. He gives a top-notch performance at every show and his passion for the music he plays is obvious. In 2003 he and BOTR were joined onstage by former Wings/McCartney band members Henry McCullough, Steve Holley, Denny Seiwell, Chris Hall & Howie Casey at the Royal Court Theatre. It was a fantastic concert with just one of the many memorable moments being Henry McCullough playing that oh-so famous guitar solo during 'My Love'. And in 2000 they were part of an all-star Beatle Week line-up for a recreation of the December 1999 McCartney Cavern Club gig at our Run Devil Run concert.
Sir Paul has, of course, released his highly acclaimed Memory Almost Full CD this year, and no doubt Bob will have song or two from this great album in his setlist. We're always thrilled to have him back, so get along and Dance Tonight with Bob Bartey!
