Getting Back to Where They Once Belonged!

Well you've seen and heard them at the Liverpool Convention and in theatres the world over, but there is one place you may have missed Gary Gibson and the Get Back Band - The Muldoons Pub in Preston in Lancashire!

Gary On Tour!
The Princess Alice, Preston
Like many other Beatles tribute bands, Gary Gibson plays the pub circuit in the hometown where he was born and bred - good old Preston in Lancashire! We are very lucky to have one of the worlds most sought after tribute bands, right on our doorstep. It was a Friday night and the small pub, The Princess Alice, was packed out with the Gary Gibson fan club who regularly turn up to all his shows, no matter what the weather or where it is!! Around 80 'Beatling' fans packed into the pub, and were treated to a John and Beatle set, which made everyone's journey worthwhile!
Gary and the Get Back Band entertained us with 'Instant Karma', 'You've Got To Hide Your Love Away', the brilliant 'Mr Moonlight' & 'Ticket To Ride'. The pub was already bopping and rocking, when they added a surprise number - 'Let It Be'! They ended the evening with John's heartfelt 'Imagine'. The crowd joined in with the song, bringing the end to another great night!

Onward to; The Red Lion Pub, Longton, Lancashire.
As usual it was raining! Sometimes I think Gary should open every set with 'Rain'. It's often the most appropriate Beatles song!! All the regular's showed up, despite the wind and heavy rain. A sign outside the door said: "Back by popular demand!", and they clearly were - the pub was packed!
The band were just finishing setting up as we walked in, but they took to the stage promptly at 9.30pm. As we all moved to the front of the area where the band was playing, a party started and we all boogied and jived the night away! I loved 'Ticket To Ride' and the mind-blowing 'Revolution' and the brilliant 'I Saw Her Standing There' with Chris taking lead vocals. The pub was quickly up and jiving and wanting more!

Simon was unable to play this gig, but stand-in Dave, is a confident Blues and Jazz guitarist and gave a rather groovy solo during Get Back!! Jim, the new addition to the group, has really settled in and provides a brilliant beat throughout which gets the whole band grooving!

As is so often the case at the bands gigs, the crowd became a little over enthusiastic and Gary had to ask them twice to move back from the stage to avoid an accident!

The gig ended again with the beautiful 'Imagine' before 'Twist And Shout' blew the roof off, the whole pub joining in with the harmony!! Fab stuff!

Next Stop; The Muldoons Preston
They say there's no place like home, well The Muldoons is home to the lads and what a night! Not many showed up - only 40 or so of us, and again the regulars, but the band were in top form and I have to say that this has got to be one of the best gigs I've seen in a long time!

The Muldoons has a great acoustic sound and is perfect for rocking and rolling! The walls are covered with photos of The Beatles, John Lennon, Oasis, The Rolling Stones and it attracts a lively and wild crowd, who always end up dancing on the tables and chairs!

Gary burst onto the stage with 'Revolution', and continued with 'From Me To You', a heavy version of 'Eight Days a Week', 'Help', 'Johnny B Goode' which got the small crowd chanting for more!

With 'I Saw Her Standing There' & 'Twist and Shout', Gary performs as John enthusiastically, with all his heart and soul. 'Don't Let Me Down' always sends shivers down my back, because his vocals are so 'John'. The lads vocals and harmonies are proving very tight and in some songs, Chris is starting to sound like Paul McCartney. Their set list is growing and changing all the time, and they are becoming one hell of a live band; ready to impress the world all over again!

They truly do know how to impress a crowd and even convert non-Beatle fans by the end of the night! There is nothing better than seeing people rocking to the sound of a band that has been responsible for so much talent and friendship throughout the world… The Beatles! Thanks to Gary, Justin, Jim, Chris, Dave and Simon for many great gigs - here's to many more!

So now there's another place to add to your Beatle band tour of England - The Muldoons in Preston!
