Pablo Fanques Faux

The Fab Faux are surely one of the most musically qualified Beatles Tribute Bands in the world. They are all accomplished session musicians who have played with countless artistes including Frank Sinatra, Joan Osborne as well as George, Paul and Ringo themselves!!

They were formed in 1998 by Will Lee and Rich Pagano and it is hard to believe that in such a short time they have become one of the most popular bands in Beatledom! They thrilled us last Convention with their awesome renditions of Hey Bulldog, Strawberry Fields Forever and Being For The Benefit of Mr Kite. They return to Liverpool this year to enthusiastic fans (speaking at least for ourselves!) to perform 3 times including a headlining show at the Royal Court Theatre (Saturday) and the Let It Be stage (Monday).

We managed to catch them on one of their rare days off to ask them a few questions.

What are the dubious origins of The Fab Faux?
Will & Rich met in France & discovered a great mutual love for the MUSIC of the Beatles - Will found a venue in NYC (The China Club) and got a gig for this unformed band - Rich new about Frank, they both knew Jack, Will knew Jimmy. We all got together at Will's house and learned 'Because', in order to see how we blended vocally & who should sing top, middle & bottom (it's generally-from top to bottom-Jack, Rich, Frank, Jimmy & Will - But not always!)

What do you think makes The Beatles a band which people want to emulate all over the world?
I think it's the imagination of the songwriters-working class kids who had vivid imaginations who dreamed of a better world for themselves & realized that dream in the end.
