Back From The USSR
Having been coming to Liverpool for the last two years, Back from the USSR have quickly become one of the fans favourites over the Beatle Week. First appearing in 2004 under the guise of the Yar Band, Back from the USSR returned in 2005 and will now make a hat trick of appearances in 2006. Since their formation in 2002, Back from the USSR have played many concerts in their homelad of Russia as well as across the continent. Front man Valeriy Yarushin started his musical career in the early 70s with the band Ariel who became one of the most popular USSR rock-pop band. In 2003 he organised and produced a Beatles music concert in Mosow wthat featured Russian rock and pop stars singing the music of The Beatles.
The band also consists of his stunning daughter Alena Yarushina, who has won a number of international awards for her singing, as well as Alexander Trapezdnikov (guitar), Oleg Yarushin (keyboards, backing vocals) and Ilya Yagoda (drums). Joining them on percussion is a familiar face to Mathew Street, TV Presenter, music journalist, recently qualified Liverpool tour guide and Russia's biggest Beatles fan, Jane Enenko.
