Itchycoo Park first performed at Beatle Week in 1998 under the name The Bootleg Rutles, where they accompanied Neil Innes and John Halsey in a great Rutles show at the Cavern Club.
Last year Itchycoo Park made their debut at Latin American Beatle Week playing at the Cavern Club in Buenos Aires, although they almost didn't make it - it took them four days to get to Argentina from Scotland, after a missed connection in Frankfurt! In Buenos Aires, Itchycoo Park met up with some old friends from Liverpool Beatle Week including The Beatalls, Hal Bruce, Julia Lennon and someone called Bill Heckle… who, true to his name, heckled the lads from the audience during their first gig! John McNaught tells us that things did get better; "Bill bought us a drink - just the one between us mind you, but it was a drink nevertheless. He could almost be Scottish!!" Apparently Itchycoo Park also have photographs of Bill 'performing' on stage in Buenos Aires, which they are keeping until he pays the ransom!
The band thoroughly enjoyed the experience and are looking forward to going back this year to the festival - it's just like Liverpool but different!!
Itchycoo Park are Ronnie Davidson (guitar and vocals), Jim Logie (bass, keyboards and vocals), Alex Fairley (guitar and vocals) and John McNaught (drums and vocals).
