Det Betales are back in Liverpool for the 11th year in a row. The band was formed back in 1980 and now features founding member John Ramon aka Tor Olsen along with George Harryseth aka Odd Kleven, Paul McEplecarth aka Bernt Johansen and Bongo Sterk aka Rolf Øyvind Hæg. This year the band are bringing a couple of friends with them - musicians Dag Svartskuren (guitar) and Fredrik Barstad (keyboards) will join the group at all their Liverpool shows.
Det Betales tour Norway constantly, playing with orchestras and choirs, as well as Beatles related luminaries including Tony Sheridan. They have recorded their own versions of some of their favourite Beatles songs, as well as a self-penned tribute to John called 'Dear John', which is played regularly on American radio stations. Their latest single is a rocking version of Eleanor Rigby, which you'll be able to hear at their gigs this week.
Det Betales have been entertaining the Beatle Week crowds forever, it seems. The world wouldn't be quite right if they weren't in Liddypool with us every August would it?
