The Beat Beatles
Eddy and Phil Gillespie of the Beatbrothers are the youngest performers at Beatle Week this year, but The Beat Beatles are the youngest purely Beatles Tribute band both here this weekend and in the UK. They are all aged 17 or 18 and they have been together ever since high school… which is actually only about 2 years! Paul Jones, who despite sounding like he should be a sixties star in his right is actually the bands' John Lennon, John Birch, who swaps his pencil for a bass as Paul McCartney, Andrew Brown who plays George Harrison and drummer James Smith formed the band for a school concert, but following a rapturous reception were inspired to continue. Since then they have won a number of talent shows, performed at all the major venues in Liverpool including the Cavern Club (where they had a regular spot), Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, St George's Hall, the Liverpool Empire as well as many clubs and theatres around the North West of England. They also perform regularly on the River Mersey ferries. Their talent has led them to appear on UK national television; as The Beat Beatles on Stars in their Eyes; and Andrew and James appeared with their original group Pulse on Simon Cowell's X Factor, getting into the final heats of the band competition.
They're local lads, hailing from Ormskirk, so we can't really welcome them to Liverpool, but we can welcome to Beatle Week!
