Newer and Bluer Meanies

As mentioned in the programme, it was about time the festival featured a Liverpool band! The Blue Meanies: Jimmy Coburn (top left, John), Tony Coburn (top right, Paul), Gavin Pringle (bottom left, George), and Stu Simpson (bottom right, Ringo) packed out the Barcelona Bar on Friday afternoon, with their excellent tribute to The Beatles.

The Blue Meanies have a vast repertoire and can satisfy any Beatle Anorak with their fabulous set list. Songs varied from 'A Hard Days Night', 'I Feel Fine', 'Long Tall Sally', 'Twist and Shout', 'Come Together', 'Something', 'Here Comes The Sun', and the impressive 'A Day In The Life'!

'Yesterday' was sang beautifully by Tony Coburn, which was one of my favourite moments of the whole gig. They really did get a warm reception from the fans and bands alike.

We at The Word Is Love can safely say they more than 'passed the audition', and we strongly recommend anyone visiting Liverpool to go and check these guys out at their current residency; Batys on Mathew Street!
