Stars of The Future!
Philip and Eddy Gillespie, just 11 and 9 years old respectively, had a great debut in Liverpool at the ultimate venue - The Cavern Club. What a way to start your musical career!
The Beat Brothers came on stage in leather jackets and shades, with 'STAR' written on their t-shirts! And stars they truly were!! Entertaining the crowd with classic Beatles songs like 'I Saw Her Standing There', 'A Hard Day's Night' and 'I Wanna Be Your Man', 'Honey Hush', 'All Shook Up' proved that these lads are well on the way to becoming great musicians, and what better way to learn your trade than through the masters themselves!?
As the week progressed, The Beat Brothers too progressed! Flanagan's was their best gig and the crowded pub shouted and chanted "Eddie! Eddie! Eddie!" The lads played with more confidence, and won the hearts of Liverpool audience. "Brilliant! Well done lads" were the encouraging words coming from The Beatle Loving public! After the gig they came up to them to shake their hands and ask for autographs and pictures!! And as all the adoration and encouragement was not enough, they earned some money for their hard work too!
They also got support from Beatleweek headliners The Overtures and The Fab Faux! Den Pugsley came and gave his full support at The Cavern gig and told me, "They are so young! They were great"! The Beat Brothers see The Overtures as role models! Keep following their lead lads, and you can't go wrong! It was so great to see The Fab Faux support them at The Adelphi Ballroom, Rich Pagano even stepping up help young Eddie when his bass drum pedal came off!
Let's hope we see them back next year! It'll be great to see them progress, and what a difference a year can make!!
