Barcelona Bartey!
Banned on the Run @ The Barcelona, Liverpool - 25 August 2000.

Barcelona Bar was the place where three bands played on the Friday afternoon, but it all started for my friend Maria and myself on the street corner chatting to Mr Hare Georgeson himself; the lovely Rick Alan! We met the whole band and we were told he was going to do "Something old, something new, something brown, borrowed and blue!" So we said "Old Brown Shoe and Blue Jay Way… it was a pleasure to meet you Rick!"

Then we bumped into Marcus and Bob on the way in and stood chatting with them and they presented me with a CD of their newly recorded song 'Let It Grow'! (Thanks for the mention - we love you!) Also their stunning Banned on the Run at The Royal Court video! We stood at the top of the Barcelona Bar listening to the wonderful sound of 'Liverpool'! And what a band they were - all the way from Sweden! (See Liverpool review!)

I personally had gone there to see Banned on The Run and when they came on I was at the front, where I wanted to be! The show from start to finish was simply amazing! Bob gets more and more like Paul everyday! What a set list guys!!!! You were fab!! The guys treated us to Run Devil Run classics - 'No Other Baby', 'Lonesome Town'. And they sang 'Jet', 'Band on the Run', 'Silly Love Songs' 'My Love', 'Sgt Pepper', 'I Saw Her Standing There (thanks for the acknowledgment Marcus!). Then came the 'Legendary Marcus Lazarus' singing 'Medicine Jar'! WOW!! Rock on mate - you were awesome! One of my top songs of the whole week!

The only complaint I have is that we didn't have enough of Banned on the Run this year! Bob was fab at the Run Devil Run gigs and I was so glad that Marcus made it on to the stage, which made the show even better! The song Let It Grow, which Banned on the Run recorded for the CCT CD at Abbey Road Studios, is really beautiful. Unfortunately it will not be available until next year, but in the meantime you can hear a demo of it on their website at www.botr.net Well done lads - we're proud of you!!
