Yesterdays Tomorrow from North Carolina, USA make their UK debut at The Cavern Club, Liverpool this Thursday 25th November, and then again on Friday and Saturday. The band, who recently had the honour of performing for Paul McCartney's Garland Foundation Breast Cancer fundraiser in memory of Linda McCartney, are thrilled to be playing at the place where it all began! Thanks to Andy Grant for the information.

'62 will be making their debut at one of the US's premier Beatles events; Abbey Road On The River. The event takes place in a new location for 2005: Louisville, Kentucky from 27-29 May 2005. Dave Pal sent TWIL this message:

"From Liverpool to Louisville..from the UK to Kentuck-k! '62 looks forward to seeing our many friends from Beatle Week playing there as well....best wishes to Gary Jacobs and his festival staff, and everyone else who is ready for a great time in Louisville next May..... we can't wait to see all the fans!!"

And '62 certainly had better be in the festival mood for 2005 as they've been invited back to International Beatle Week in Liverpool in August. The line-up for the festival is still being confirmed, but we'll have all the information as soon as it's released. And be sure to book early as rooms at the Adelphi Hotel are already selling fast...

Following last weeks appearance at the Labour Party Conference, The Mersey Beatles (England) entertained the Conservative Party in Bournemouth this week. Jan Owen is to play two gigs in New York this weekend to commemorate what would have been John Lennon's 64th birthday. On Saturday 9th he has been invited to play for Bag One Productions (Yoko's own company)/Legacy Productions' "When I'm 64..." show on Wooster Street, Soho (in the Village, NYC). The Mersey Beatles have been receiving some national publicity this week after Cherie Blair joined them onstage! The Prime Minister's wife, who is a Liverpudlian herself, gave an impromptu performance of Twist and Shout with the band who were promoting Liverpool as European Capital of Culture in 2008 at the Labour Party Conference in Brighton. A message from Paul Davie, following The Fab Five's gift to Cavern City Tours recognising the link between Liverpool USA and Liverpool UK at Beatleweek 2004: "I am honored that Bill Heckle and Dave Jones are going to hang up our metal sign (commemorating "Liverpool USA to Liverpool UK") outside the front entrance to The Cavern. I almost cried when Bill told me that. It means all my hard work to not only get to the festival, but to involve our own village of Liverpool, was all worth while. Bill wants to continue to build the relationship between the two cities, which is fab-ulous. I'm conveying all this to our mayor, and hopefully more will come of it."

And The Fab Five will again be appearing with Joey Molland of Badfinger and Terry Sylvester of The Hollies at Turning Stone Casino, Verona NY on 5 November.

The Repeatles have been added to the list of bands playing at Latin American Beatleweek in Buenos Aires in November.

Gav Pring is playing a special date in Liverpool in August. The British Export guitarist will treat early arrivals to Beatleweek with an extra special George Harry's Son show at the Pacific Bar & Grill. The show will take place on Wednesday August 25th at 9pm. For more information, see the official press release here.

Celebrate The 40th anniversary of The Beatles Arrival in Las Vegas with American English at the Sahara Hotel and Casino. The Beatles stayed at the Sahara Hotel during their only show in Las Vegas. American English will perform live at the Sahara in commemoration of this historic event Friday, August 27 and Saturday, August 28. Special guests include Louise Harrison. Itchycoo Park have been invited to play at this years Latin American Beatleweek in Buenos Aires, Argentina!! They will join The Beatalls who will be making their third appearance at the festival.
John McNaught told TWIL: "We're really looking forward to sharing our passion for all things Beatle with like-minded South Americans. We may even wear kilts to confuse the locals and find out if any of the descendants of Scotland's ill-fated World Cup adventure to Argentina in 1978, are still around. Is there a Beatle tartan? - should there be one! We intend to have a great time and hope to let people on the other side of the world know what the music of The Fab Four means to us Jocks."

Sir Paul... McCartney's Ultimate Tribute are hosting a Benefit for Adopt-A-Minefield® in Chicago on 13 August 2004 at Excalibur. They are looking to raise around $40,000 which is the cost of clearing one entire minefield, and to do this they need your support. Go to Sir Paul... Abbey Road On The River is another tribute band related event which is supporting this very worthy cause.

Davey Justice, the founding member of British Import (as they were originally known) has rejoined in the role of Paul. Davey has just completed a 5 month stint in Las Vegas as the Imperial Palace Hotel & Casino with the Legends of Yesterday Show. Of course, with Davey playing Paul, you may be wondering what's happened to Paul Lynch... well he's swapping names and roles, reverting to his given first name James (he really is James Paul!) and he's swapping his Hofner bass for a Rickenbacker guitar and taking on the role of John! He's been told for many years that he'd make a great 'Lennon' and now he's finally succumbed to the pressure to move from stage right to stage left! You will be able to see this amazing new line-up at Abbey Road on the River in Cleveland from 6-8 August and of course British Export will be back for their fourth consecutive Liverpool International Beatleweek from 26-31 August. The man The Beatles called 'Mr Fixit' died on Wednesday 9th June. Former Apple General Manager Alistair Taylor was a good friend to The Word Is Love and a great supporter of Beatles tribute bands, appearing on stage with The Fab 4 and attending Beatles festivals all over the world. He will be greatly missed.

This weekend sees the first ever Australian Beatles Festival in Adelaide. Among the performers are The Fab Four (aka The Australian Beatals), Hal Bruce, The Beatels, The Mersey Beatles, Imagine John Lennon and Let It Be Beatles. Congratulations to Teresa Scarcella and the team at Cavern Club Adelaide from The Word Is Love!

The Prellies will be performing a one-off gig at the Cavern on Tuesday June 1st. They have been approached by Fulcrum TV, who are making a 90 minute documentary about The Beatles, and have asked the band to supply a rock 'n' Roll soundtrack. They are filming the entire Prellies gig at The Cavern - parts of which will be included in the documentary. Anybody who is interested in coming along or even putting on some sixties gear and being filmed cheering The Prellies on (no boo-ing allowed :) can email trev@theprellies.co.uk for details. The documentary is to be broadcast nationally on Channel Five (who have commissioned it) before being distributed world-wide.

Disappointing news for Fab Faux fans attending Abbey Road on the River:

Dear Fab Faux Fans:
I'm afraid we have some bad news to report - our band received word this morning that our performances at this year's Abbey Road on the River festival (in Cleveland, USA) have been canceled. We were scheduled to perform The Beatles' white album in its entirety - a show that requires, in addition to ourselves, a full horn section, string section and harpist - a 12-piece band, all told. Because of the size of the band and the amount of gear needed to do such a show, I'd venture to say our band has the highest overhead of any of the bands performing at the Festival. I'm sure everyone knows that most large-scale shows, especially festivals, require substantial sponsor underwriting to happen. Unfortunately, we've learned that AROTR had a couple of key sponsors withdraw just last week, which impacted their budget even beyond what was allocated for our part of the show. We offered to appear as a 5-piece and do 2 shows with our core band, but unfortunately, in the current state of affairs, that's out of the question also, at this time. The good news is that the AROTR Festival [website] will go on as scheduled, with all of the other fine bands and performers intact. We wish Gary and the Festival all the best for a resounding success in this year's event.

Sgt. Pepper's Only Dart Board Band will be returning to The Cavern, Liverpool, on Sunday 30th and Monday 31st May in two afternoon Bank Holiday performances. The band are currently in rehearsal for the "Abbey Road" theatre tour later in the year which will feature the entire album in concert. Incorporating film clips and guest performers, the "Abbey Road" show will also include a second half of Beatles hits from all phases of their career. With 16 theatre dates so far confirmed between Autumn 2004 and the Spring 2005, the Dart Board Band are still keen to hear from promoters or venues interested in booking the show. Further good news for the Dart Board Band: Martin Dimery's unique autobiography of life in a Beatles tribute band entitled "Being John Lennon" is soon to be stocked by the popular Fopp chain of stores throughout the UK.

Beatles Tribute Bands wanted for the 2nd Wasquehal Beatles Night, near Lille in Northern France. The event will take place in March 2005. Click here for further details and to find out how your band can be involved!!

The Australian Beatles Festival (11-14 June 2004) now has a website up and running. TWIL knows of quite a few bands who are heading 'down under' for this event - we'll let you know the confirmed list of bands as soon as we hear.
